Don’t expect much.

I’m forgetful. I was once scolded by another adult for saying that, because their contention was that it would only be true so long as I said it, and thus reinforced it. Therefore from their perspective, I would cease to be forgetful if I would simply stop declaring myself forgetful.

I really don’t remember where I was going with that…but it reminds me of a joke:

A Baptist, a Roman Catholic, and a Christian Scientist all died and went to hell.
They stood before Satan as he asked them how they felt about being there.

The Baptist said, “Yep, I here, I deserve to be here, and that’s all there is to it.
The Roman Catholic said, “I’m not too worried about it, I’ve got people praying me outta here.”
The Christian Scientist said, “Man, I’m not here.”

The reason why I titled this blog “Don’t expect much” is because I’m writing this for my own clarity. Like so many others, I like to have an outlet to put thoughts down…maybe even ones that contradict themselves from one day to the next.

Some of the disclaimers I’d like to throw out: I have a particular worldview, like everyone else. My worldview is based upon the knowledge of The Creator and the privilege of knowing beyond that that this Creator is personal. I have a real relationship with my Creator. I truly know that He is and He has always been and He always will be. He knows things I don’t and can’t know, including all the details of who I am, what I am, and where I’m going. It’s because of this relationship that I have what so many others don’t: unconditional peace, indescribable power, unquenchable joy, and unmeasurable hope. I believe that anyone who comes to this God in faith–a faith that lays it all down and takes Him up on all He offers will be saved in every way a person can be saved.

Come to think of it, that’s the only disclaimer I have. The rest is up for grabs. So, while this blog is primarily for my own outlet, I welcome anyone to read.
